Iolanda Rossi (Papaleo) met composer Guido Coppola when she attended singing lessons in Adelaide in the latter half of the 80's. Guido Coppola established The Monteverdi Singers in 1988, the name Monteverdi chosen to honour the great Italian composer of the 17th century, Claudio Monteverdi of Cremona.
Iolanda sung in the Monti Verdi Singers for many years. In 1996 the group performed as part of the Italian Festival together with the Festival Orchestra and Italian flautists. They performed the Messa in Fa Maggiore by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Here is a newspaper clipping article of the same:
